Postcards from the Hilton Tahiti
In April 2025, I embarked on an unforgettable expedition across Polynesia and Melanesia—exploring remote islands and tucked-away villages, both along the coast and deep inland. With each stop came new stories and striking scenes, many of which I was fortunate to capture through my lens. I’m now in the process of reviewing and curating hundreds of images, and I’m excited to start sharing them with you.
To kick things off, I’m featuring a small set of photos taken in Tahiti, at the beautiful Hilton Tahiti. Our journey began in Papeete, the vibrant capital of French Polynesia. I had the chance to wander its colorful markets—more on that in an upcoming “Postcard” post. Before heading deeper into the expedition, I took a few days to recharge and prep our photography gear, especially the underwater equipment, while enjoying some quiet time poolside at the Hilton.
The Hilton Tahiti’s pool area is a true gem. Lined with iridescent tiles that shimmer and shift with the sunlight beneath the water’s surface, it creates a dreamy, abstract palette of color and light. Perched right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, at the mouth of Nanuu Bay, the view stretches out to the end of the Papeete airport runway, with the island of Moorea rising in the distance like a mirage.
Some resorts truly excel in creating lush, immersive environments, and Hilton Tahiti is one of them. From thoughtful landscaping to its serene coastal design, the space feels perfectly in tune with its surroundings.
Below are a few moments I captured around the pool area—just a small taste of what’s to come from this journey.
