STORY
The Atmospheric Wave Wall is a dynamic public art installation located on the exterior of the Cirrus building in Chicago’s Lakeshore East neighborhood. Created by artist Olafur Eliasson, the piece features a shimmering façade composed of 1,200 curved metal tiles that reflect and refract light, mimicking the movement of water and atmospheric patterns. The installation responds to changes in sunlight and viewer perspective, creating a constantly shifting visual experience that echoes the nearby Lake Michigan and the city’s ever-changing weather. It blends art, architecture, and nature, offering a contemplative space within the urban landscape.
